A new concept customer café was to be installed in this large UK supermarket, as part of this new concept a new brand and menu was to be offered this required new equipment, layout and extraction to the kitchen

The Abraxas Solution

What recommendations/solutions did we make?

Abraxas worked alongside the client’s main contractor to design a kitchen layout and Extraction system to suit the new floorplan. Being an all-electric kitchen with no gas, energy efficient appliances were specified including an induction range and combi ovens, high specification pass through dishwasher, refrigeration and fast recovery fryers. As part of the safety regime fire suppression was also incorporated to the cookline and extraction ductwork. Given the opening hours and cyclical nature of the customer profile efficient hot food holding equipment was specified.

The Project Installation

What did we do?

A period of initial design took place to work out the kitchen layout and agree equipment specifications, Abraxas provided full project management and install of the kitchen and provided the necessary services requirements to the main contractor and client.

What did we install?

Installation took place in 2 stages with the extraction canopy installed over a 2-day period and then our team returned 1 month later to install the equipment

How long did the process take?

3 months to include design, specification, installation and commissioning

What issues did we face?

The project was straightforward and issue free, the primary concern was the delivery of equipment and management of the installation given that the supermarket was a live supermarket site with the general public accessing the store

How many staff on the job?

1 project manager, 3 Abraxas engineers and 3 sub-contractors

Rationalised the kitchen with more energy efficient and user-friendly kitchen equipment and storage. By reducing the kitchen footprint, the catering team have a more efficient space to operate within.
