The Abraxas Solution

An initial brief was taken to establish the catering pod size required and the food offer that the client was looking to provide, to make ensure the new facility was sufficient to cater for the students throughout the whole of the year. This was to be a new catering facility for a new college campus built initially with no student/staff catering facility and without the space within the existing building to be adapted.

The Project Installation

What did we do?

At the initial brief and site visit, we discussed the criteria required to install the pod and that an adequate flat base be ready for the installation and the required services were nearby.

What did we install?

The installation took place over a 3 day period for the pod shell and all the catering equipment to be installed. Everything was then checked and commissioned to make sure it was in full working order before leaving site. The equipment installed in the pod was:

  • Outdoor Catering Pod and Glazed Canopy

  • Handwash Station

  • Upright Freezer

  • Merchandising display chiller

  • Water Boiler

  • Convection Oven

  • Servery Counter & Heated display Gantry

How long did the process take?

8 weeks from initial enquiry to completed installation.

What issues did we face?

With easy access and installation of the pod in a fairly open area, there were no issues and installation was straight forward with no problems. Being a college and within school term time, the normal health and safety practices and containment were put in place to ensure no risks to the students and staff.

How many staff were on the project?

  • 1 x Project Manager
  • 2 x Abraxas Engineers

The Benefits to the Company

How has Abraxas made an impact to the company?

With no existing catering facilities at the college campus the outside catering pod provided the students and staff with an onsite food outlet, students and staff now benefit from not needing to leave site for refreshment and the college benefits from the commercial advantage of providing their own catering offer. With the addition of the college having their own logo on the outside of the pod, this has proved a great addition to the HOW College.

Testimonial from How College

With the opening of the Colleges new Engineering unit we required a unit capable to give our students a hot and cold food external to the building.
From first consultation, quotes, adjustments and awarding of the project Abraxas has offered us a fast, friendly and approachable service without any hard sale.
Mike and the team have all been proactive in giving us the unit we needed to best suit our customers and fitting in with our timeframe for works.
Our students and staff are all really happy with the provision they now have and have helped us retain sales and potentially grow custom too.
