Grant, who joined the team at the beginning of May as Operations Manager will assist in the scheduling of Abraxas’ regular service and maintenance jobs and manage the company’s planned preventative maintenance contracts throughout the West Midlands.
Grant who lives locally to the Abraxas office in Kidderminster started his career in the industry in 1992, when he began working in a drawing office for a local catering equipment supplier. His qualifications and wealth of experience using AutoCAD in addition to his Certified Food Service Professional (CFSP) accreditation will support him in his new role at Abraxas. Prime cooking, extraction and refrigeration equipment are the heart of any kitchen. When the unthinkable happens and this equipment suffers from a fault, a catering operation can be affected dramatically. It is imperative that Abraxas can quickly and effectively schedule emergency maintenance visits in order to repair or replace this equipment enabling the businesses to get back up and running.
Operations Manager at Abraxas, Grant Shaw, explains “I’m very excited to join the company as Operations Manager. Service and maintenance contracts are big business for the company, it’s essential that commercial kitchens have their equipment regularly inspected, maintained and replaced to avoid costly breakdowns. With regards to his new role Grant continued, “Over my 25 years or so within the industry I’ve seen a massive shift with regards to the importance of professional service and maintenance being carried out on a regular basis, be it reactive or preventative. It would be fair to say that there is more and more emphasis being placed on caterers these days with regards to meeting regulatory requirements and, as specialists within this field, we need to be advising and supporting our clients to not only be aware of their responsibilities but also to deliver cost effective solutions at every stage.”
